Irjen Agus Suryonugroho, the head of the Indonesian Traffic Police (Kakorlantas), has stated that the reverse flow of returning Eid al-Fitr travelers on the Trans Java Toll Road is currently under control. Various measures have been taken to ensure the safety and comfort of travelers heading back after the Eid celebrations. Traffic flow has been managed through local one-way traffic arrangements to address the build-up of vehicles heading towards Jakarta. The peak of the return flow is predicted to occur on Sunday (6/4).
Agus, accompanied by Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi and the President Director of Jasa Raharja, Rivan Purwantono, provided updates to the press during an inspection at the Banyumanik Toll Gate in Central Java on Saturday (5/4/2025). Agus reported to the media that the current traffic situation was fairly controlled as per the latest information conveyed to the Minister of Transportation.
To manage the increased volume of vehicles, strategic measures have been put in place, including traffic rerouting and scenarios to facilitate the flow back towards Jakarta. Agus explained that from kilometer 70 to 36, local one-way traffic was in effect, and on that evening, they opened the second lane for one-way traffic in Cikampek.
Tomorrow, the Minister of Transportation and the Chief of Police will initiate a national one-way traffic flow from 414 Kalikangkung towards Jakarta, based on the evening’s traffic surge reported by the Central Java Traffic Directorate. The authorities aim to control the reverse flow this year with these coordinated efforts.
Minister Dudy Purwagandhi expressed satisfaction that the traffic situation remained smooth as of that evening, and he hoped that the upcoming national one-way traffic arrangement would further ease the congestion towards Jakarta.
